BPM study 2024 – Process excellence through competence development and digital tools

Digital change is making process management increasingly important in companies – Germany has some catching up to do

Today, process management is more than just a trend – it is an economic necessity. The latest study by BearingPoint and BPM&O shows that process management is becoming increasingly important in European companies, especially for the implementation of digital transformation:

Growing importance due to digitalisation

The study shows that 42% of companies rate process management as very important, compared to 35% in 2021

Long-term benefits outweigh costs

70% of the companies surveyed cite continuous improvement processes as an advantage, 69% see increased product and service quality and 68% see increased transparency.

Germany lags behind

In France and Switzerland, over 70% of companies measure the benefits of process management, in Germany only just over half.

Future trends and sustainability

Important trends include the integration of process management in transformation projects, the promotion of sustainability and the increasing use of AI technologies.

About the study

The study was based on a survey of 676 people from six countries (Germany, France, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, USA) and eight industries who are professionally involved in the analysis and optimisation of business processes. The online survey was conducted between November and December 2023 among clients of BearingPoint and BPM&O as well as participants in an Innofact panel. The surveys for the previous studies are based on a comparable methodology.
