Defining and introducing role concepts

Who does what?

When processes are introduced into a company, the organizational assignment of employees and managers must also be considered. Which roles (e.g. process owners) with which competencies and responsibilities are required in the company?  

The definition of a role concept is a strategic success factor in the introduction of process management. This is often a sensitive issue, as the balance of power can shift, or entire areas of responsibility can change. It is therefore important to develop a clear understanding of roles, define how the roles interact, and combine this with an organizational concept.

Leadership-related roles require a role concept that is based on a customized understanding of leadership. This includes the ability to take responsibility for process objectives, resource planning, and control, as well as the optimization of the assigned process. Particularly in organizations in which the functional and process organization form a matrix, it is important to regulate the interaction between those responsible for the process and those responsible for the function. This should ensure that the best possible decisions can be made from a process perspective.
